Burton Dunn established 5 Points Law, LLC in 2017. He diligently represents clients in complex Probate matters including Will contests, Trust disputes and contested Guardianship, Conservatorship and Commitment proceedings. Burton also advises clients on all of their Elder and Estate Planning needs, including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans’ Affairs, estate and trust matters, and guardianships/conservatorships.
Prior to founding 5 Points Law, Burton was a senior associate at White Arnold & Dowd, P.C. in their Probate Practice Group, where he was an integral part of the Office of Jefferson County’s General Conservator and Guardian handling the financial affairs and medical care decisions of over 500 wards.
He is a member of the Alabama State Bar, American Bar, Birmingham Bar and Shelby County Bar Associations. Additionally, Burton is an active member of many different sections of the Birmingham Bar Association, including the Probate Law Section where he currently serves as its Contiuing Legal Education Chair in 2013. Additionally, Burton is a graduate of the Birmingham Bar Association’s Future Leader’s Forum and a member of the Advisory Board of teh Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program where he serves as C0-Chair of Fundraisers.
Burton earned his bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and his law degree from Cumberland School of Law. Prior to attending law school, he worked in Media Relations and Marketing for the Auburn University Athletics Department and the Atlanta Hawks. He also served as the Campaign Coordinator for Alabama Supreme Court Justice Ralph Cook’s 2000 re-election Campaign.
Burton serves as Advisory Council President of the Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School, and is an active member of many other organizations, including the National Guardianship Association, the Alumni Board of the Altamont School and Hand in Paw of Birmingham. He previously served as a Certified Delta Society Therapy Dog Team with his faithful German Shepherd Heidi from 2006-2009. Burton also is a founder and partner in a local craft brewery, Cahaba Brewing Company.
