Drew Kurland Patterson

OVERVIEW

Drew Patterson is a trial lawyer who represents businesses, entrepreneurs, and individuals in complex commercial disputes across Florida. He is well-versed in matters involving contract disputes, business torts, partnership agreements, shareholder disputes and derivative actions, securities fraud matters, noncompete agreements, trade secret litigation, and unfair and deceptive trade practices cases.

Drew routinely litigates cases in both state and federal court, often stepping in when business relationships fall apart or when allegations of fraud, mismanagement, or financial misconduct come to light. He’s known for taking a practical approach to high-stakes litigation, helping clients make informed business decisions while aggressively pursuing their interests.

He also handles consumer protection cases brought under the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and the Florida Telephone Solicitation Act (FTSA). Drew defends businesses in class action lawsuits involving claims of deceptive practices, unauthorized marketing communications, and statutory violations related to consumer outreach. In addition to courtroom advocacy, he helps companies navigate compliance issues to minimize regulatory exposure and prevent future litigation.

On the employment side, Drew represents employers in matters involving the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Florida’s Whistleblower Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Florida Civil Rights Act (FCRA). He has defended clients in collective wage-and-hour claims, retaliation suits, and discrimination cases, and routinely handles Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) investigations.

Drew also has experience representing clients in administrative proceedings and government investigations brought by agencies including the SEC, FTC, DEA, DBPR, CBP, and others. His work in these areas often involves advising on compliance, defending licensing actions, or helping resolve enforcement matters quietly and efficiently.

Outside of litigation, Drew serves as outside general counsel to a national prepaid card company in the clinical research space, advising on convenience fees, consumer disclosures, affiliate marketing, and bank program agreements.

BACKGROUND & EDUCATION

Drew is a native of the Tampa Bay Area with deep roots in the community. Drew was born and raised in Clearwater and attended Palm Harbor University High School. He then graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2018 where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a major in Finance. Drew earned his Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law in 2021 and was admitted to The Florida Bar shortly thereafter. During his time at Stetson Law, Drew served as a Teacher’s Assistant, Research Assistant, and was awarded the highest-grade designation in Advanced Legal Research.

Drew is admitted to practice in all Florida State Courts, the Supreme Court of Florida, as well as the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the Southern District of Florida. He is also a member of the Clearwater Bar Association, the St. Petersburg Bar Association, the Barney Masterson Inn of Courts, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Drew is a resident of Dunedin, Florida where he enjoys exercising, fishing, playing chess, and watching the Rays, Bucs, and Lightning in his down time.
