Steven Trabayko Meiller

I have read the previous review from someone that is evidently not at all familiar with how the law works. They said Judge Meiller would dismiss a case if the arresting officer were not present. The commentator in this "zero star" review was identified as "paralegal". I doubt the title of paralegal...! Judge Meiller is an excellent attorney and a fair and professional Judge. Doesn't so called "paralegal " realize that the accused offender has the right to confront the officer writing a citation and that the officer is aware of the court appearance and part of his job is to appear in court and support the citation. If he does not the officer is disrespectful of the court and is wasting everyone's time. This review, as written, is from me, a 30+ veteran police officer who showed up in court when ever requested. I was subpoenaed to traffic court as a witness in Pasco County and sat in front of Magistrate Steve Meiller. Mr. Meiller wasted my time and did not care what I had to say because the officer wasn't present. The officer was out on the job. I watched him repeatedly dismiss cases because the officers... weren't present. How can they be present when they are out working? I watched the Bailiff recommend the offenders ask for a dismissal if the officers weren't there to defend why they wrote a citation. I heard Mr. Meiller say, "Well I can do whatever I want to do, right?" What a gross misuse of our justice system all because an attorney needs extra money and fills in on the bench in traffic court. Mr. Meiller is undermining our officers out there on the streets doing their jobs. He is letting people go that should be paying the price for their wrong doings. It is no wonder our insurance rates are so high and people drive like they do in the Tampa area- they are just waiting for their day in court in front of Mr. Meiller- case dismissed!
