Richard V. Ellis

Born and raised in Sarasota, Florida, Richard Ellis cultivated a passion for law early in his life. After graduating with honors from the University of Florida in 1976, he pursued his legal education at Loyola University New Orleans, obtaining his degree in 1979. Mr. Ellis has since established himself as a distinguished attorney with extensive experience in bankruptcy and family law, having filed over 5,000 Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases and handled numerous family law matters throughout his career. His dedication to public service is demonstrated through his involvement with the City of Sarasota, where he has served on the Planning Board and Board of Adjustment and currently holds the role of Special Magistrate since 1999. Outside the office, Mr. Ellis values spending quality time with his family, particularly with his young granddaughter. He also enjoys staying informed about current events, engaging in sports, and indulging in his love for reading.
