Michael L Resnick

Michael L. Resnick is the current president of Syprett Meshad, and is one of the original founding partners of its predecessor firm, Syprett, Meshad, Resnick & Lieb. For more than 40 years, he has focused his practice on marital and family law. His cases involve marital dissolution and post-dissolution issues involving marital assets, complex property division issues, custody, alimony, child support, visitation, and modification of marital settlement agreements.

Mr. Resnick holds an AV Preeminent® rating, the highest rating possible, from the peer review process facilitated by the Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™. For nine consecutive years, he has also been selected to the Florida “Super Lawyers” list in the category of Family Law. Only five percent of the lawyers in the state are selected to the Super Lawyers list, which recognizes lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Mr. Resnick has been selected to this list each year since 2007.

Admitted to practice law in the State of Florida, the United States District Court Middle Court of Florida, and the United States Supreme Court, Mr. Resnick is also a former Vice Chairman of the Florida Bar Twelfth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee. The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve has recognized Mr. Resnick as a Patriotic Employer for contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force.

Mr. Resnick received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Windham College and in 1970, received his Juris Doctorate from the New England School of Law. While in college he was on the Dean’s list, and in law school was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Awards for Pleading & Practice and Federal Jurisdiction. He is a member of The Florida Bar, the Sarasota County Bar Association, and Delta Theta Phi Legal Fraternity.

Mr. Resnick has been a guest lecturer for the Florida Bar Continuing Legal Education program, the State of Florida Guardian ad Litem Program, and Hampton Seminars. His numerous television appearances include news segments on WWSB-TV Channel 7 (previously Channel 40), and on the SNN News Channel 6 program “Suncoast FYI.”

Born in Monticello, New York, Mr. Resnick graduated from the New York Military Academy with the rank of Platoon Sergeant.

An active volunteer in his community, Mr. Resnick has been involved for over 30 years with United Cerebral Palsy Sarasota-Manatee, and also serves as a Guardian ad Litem. Since 1996, he and his wife have been rescuing and providing housing and care for cats, dogs, horses, and other animals in need.
