Finally Provided a Copy after Review Was Posted

My elderly father misplaced the Summary of Trust document that was part of his recently deceased significant others Trust. I called the office to see if they had a copy and if they could fax it. Megan on the phone said they would. After 10 more calls and questioning Megan again she said they would ge...t to it when they could. She said yes ma'am to me about 20 times when I asked her if she understood that he needed that document to perform Successor Trustee duties. I wrote this review about Chris Vorbeck Monday morning February 27th and by 2pm that day received the fax with the document I had requested for my dad. The next day I received a follow up call from Mr. Vorbeck asking me if my father had received the document requested. He went on to ask me why I gave him a negative review. I indicated I thought it took too long to receive a copy of a 5 page document by fax. He informed me that the request was made on the 14th, it did not take 3 weeks (I agreed to edit the review from 3 weeks to 17 days, to accurately reflect the time frame-- Edit #1). Mr Vorbeck also told me there was a process and the request had to be properly vetted. I replied that I thought the receptionist should let people know the process and time frame. He told me she was just the receptionist, she didn’t know the attorneys schedules/processes. He proceeded to insist that I update the review (he also took the time to formally dispute the original review). He went on to say they prioritize their paying customers. This statement confused me. The deceased trustee and my dad both had trusts done with his firm. On March 7th I received another call from the office requesting another edit, Edit #2, to the review to state that I did receive the document, I was told it was causing problems in their office. It would have been nice to receive such attention and direct contact when I requested the document in the first place.

Help with a Difficult Situation

When my mother was in her early 70s she was diagnosed with adult benign hydrocephalus, a condition her doctors told us would cause dementia that would get worse over time. We helped her manage at home for a few years until she started having balance problems and finally had a fall that caused seriou...s injuries. Her doctors told us she could no longer live at home, even if she had someone with her, and advised us to place her in an assisted living facility. I was in a dither over what I needed to do for her financially and medically, and who and how would make decisions need to be made about these things. A friend recommended Chris Vorbeck as an attorney who specialized in elderly affairs. I contacted Mr. Vorbeck and he was very helpful explaining the ins and outs of finding a good assisted living facility. He informed me that while my mother was still functionally competent that I should have her complete a living will and identify someone as her power of attorney and health care representative. Mr. Vorbeck answered all my questions and helped me through a emotional and confusing period.

Brilliant and personable

Mr. Vorbeck was able to expedite the probation of my family member's estate for me as an out of state client. His attention to detail, thorough explanation without condescension, and professional manner was second to none. He performed his work quickly, and was in communication throughout each step.... While not a particularly difficult estate to process, it was a comfort, nonetheless, to have someone of his caliber within the state to ease the stress of an already difficult time.

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2014.

Suspension issued in FL, 2014

updated on 02/28/2017

Suspension means an attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. The attorney typically returns to practicing law when the suspension expires.

Chris’s comment:

“An aggrieved beneficiary filed a complaint in 2010 because the documents I prepared for her father left her out at her father's request back in 2005. The complaint was filed after her father died. The daughter litigated the matter with her stepmother and later settled. The stepmother had no issues with the legal services that I provided to her and her late husband. The suspension was for 30 days.”
