Expensive, But Worth It If You Have Assets

Excellent attorney and prenuptial agreement specialist. She was a former magistrate in the area and has a lot of connections here. She was also a computer engineer in her earlier life, so she is an extremely logical thinker and you will see that in your case preparation which has the precision of a c...omputer algorithm. If you need a prenup or you need to defend a prenup, I would highly recommend her. She defended my prenuptial agreement from someone that turned out to be a gold digger. Ms Baker succeeded beyond expectations and saved me a lot of money in the end. My ex got literally nothing--she didn't even get awarded attorney's fees. The only downsides are, one, she is a bit expensive, so consider your situation. If you have substantial assets or are looking at potential alimony, you don't want a cheap lawyer. I've seen that some attorneys are nervous when they are in court. Laurie is not. Second, she is really busy and therefore often difficult to reach. There is no hand holding here, but she will still give your case the time it needs. Final bit of advice: When you are in love you tend to look past many warning signs. Never, EVER get married without a prenup, and make sure an attorney at least looks over it. Prenups are valid in Florida, but there are nuances in the law. My prenup (which was NOT written by Ms. Baker) was judged to be valid, but it could have been better. I hired a cheap attorney to do it--don't make the same mistake. The bottom line is: If your fiancee pushes back about signing a prenup, you need to think about why she (or he) might be doing that.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
