On July 22, 2008, I hired Daphne Clements for a civil case. We had a contract and I paid her a retainer of $3000,00. On July 23, 2008 she deposited the check. This was the last time I heard from her. She took my $3000.00 retainer and never performed and services for me. So not only was I out the... $3000.00 retainer, but I had to hire a new attorney. To this day this money has never been returned. I hope she does not do this to anyone else. I did not forget the rating, she receives zero stars from me, but i had to at least mark one star. When I checked into this matter with the State, they said she had been suspended and I would have to file a law suit to recover my retainer that was paid and no services given.

For me, she was the advocate I needed throughout my divorce process and we got a fair settlement. At 60, moving into retirement, I was scared about my financial future. I feel that we got the best outcome possible, settling at mediation rather that going through a court trial, which saved me alot ...of money and stress. Daphane was professional, honest, thorough, educated, supportive and guided me through an unfamiliar and scary time. answering all the questions I had. She was directly available for me whenever I needed information or an explanation. Despite the divorce, I enjoyed working with Daphane and her staff.

I started working with Daphane Clements in late May 08. Upon receiving my deposit, she then repeated failed to follow through and process my case. In four months, she only returned one message via email, and none via phone call. When I finally tracked her down on her cell phone and fired her, she ...promised to return my entire deposit and my file and apologized for not doing anything on my behalf. She stated that it would be at the end of that week. It has now been four weeks since we had that conversation, still no return calls, and no return emails. I alerted the Florida Atorney Consumer Assistance Program (ACAP), they informed me I was not the only one who had not been getting a response from Daphane. They said they would try and contact her, but they had been unsuccessful in reaching her as well. The worst part about this whole ordeal is that this was an attorney referred by the Florida Bar website. Daphane Clements in my opinion is the most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with, in any business.
