OUTCOME: Sentencing guidelines call for 210-262 months, and I convinced the judge to give my client a downward variance, and the judge gave him only 90 months instead of the 210 months that the Government was asking for.

Child porn case in federal court. After a plea, the guideline sentence came back recommending 210-262 months in federal prison. After extensive mitigation work, and sentencing advocacy, the judge gave ... him a sentence of 90 months, which was a full 10 years below the minimum guideline score.

OUTCOME: Initial offer--life in prison on murder--pled down to time served on involuntary manslaughter

Female client charged with beating her husband to death. Initially charged with second degree murder and prosecutor offered life in prison. After extensive interviews/depositions, we were able to tear ... apart the State's case with the new evidence that we had uncovered through our investigation. Eventually the State came to us the week before trial and said they would reduce the charge to involuntary manslaughter and let client plead to time served. Client took the offer because she didn't want to risk a harsher outcome at trial. We started at life in prison, and after the aggressive litigation and investigation on her case, I walked my client out of the courtroom as a free woman after she pled to time served.

Client charged with 2nd degree murder. Eye witness identification, DNA match to my client, client was seen in the area immediately after the shooting. I aggressively attacked the reliability of the ey ... ewitnesses because most admitted to being high on crack. Also got the DNA expert to admit that while my client was included as a possible subject, she could not rule out other individuals.

Murder case where my client was charged with killing his girlfriend by striking her. Our defense was that she died of alcohol poisoning. After aggressively challenging the State's medical examiner, a ... s well as hiring our own independent medical examiner to review the case, we were able to convince the prosecutor that his case was so weak that he would not be able to get a conviction on murder, and murder charge was dismissed shortly before trial.
