Seattle Archdiocese to pay $12.125 million to 30 men who were sexually abused as children and teens at two Seattle-area schools. 1950's-1984 - Plffs are 30 males that are between the ages of 45 to ... 70. Plffs claimed they were sexually abused as children at two schools owned by the Archdiocese: O'Dea High School in Seattle, Washington, and Briscoe Memorial School, a former orphanage and boarding school in Kent, Washington. Despite knowing that the Christian Brothers, who ran the schools, posed a danger to children, the Seattle Archdiocese allowed them to continue teaching and administrating at the schools. As a result, multiple Christian Brothers physically and sexually assaulted numerous children over the years.

Church Negligence/Sexual Abuse 1985-1986 - Plff, male age 41, employed as a detailer/laborer. Plff was a parishonioner at St. John Vianney Parish in Kirkland, Washington, when he was sexually abused a ... nd exploited by the parish youth minister, Jim Funnell. Funnell was hired by the Seattle Archdiocese to coordinate and oversee youth activities at the parish. Plff contended that had the Seattle Archdiocese appropriately checked Funnell's references prior to hiring him, it would have discovered a history of inappropriate behavior with youth. In 1986, Plff's parents expressed their concerns about their son's relationship with Funnell to the pastor of St. John Vianney, Ted Marmo, but Plff alleged Fr. Marmo did nothing to remove Funnell or otherwise protect Plff. As a result, Plff continued to undergo sexual abuse and exploitation by Funnell.

1961-1965 - Plff, male age 65, veteran and retired police officer. Plff was a student and parishioner at St. Benedict Parish and School in Seattle, Washington. Plff contended he was sexually abused by ... his 7th grade teacher, Dan Adamson from 1961 through 1965. The Missionary Oblate of Mary Immaculate, a religious order, staffed St. Benedict Parish as pastors and assistant pastors for over 50 years. Dan Adamson taught 7th grade, but was also the parish organist and the leader of the parish teen club. From 1959 through 1962, at least three (3) different boys, including Plff, told Fr. Henry Conrad, an Oblate priest, that Dan Adamson was abusing them. Plff claimed Fr. Conrad did nothing to remove Dan Adamson, or otherwise protect the boys, and as a result of ignoring the complaints, Plff underwent four (4) years of sexual abuse and eventually dropped out of school to go to Vietnam.
