I came to the United States as a child and grew up here believing this was home. I didn’t understand my immigration status, and like many teenagers, I worked part-time jobs without realizing I wasn’t authorized to do so. We had entered the country through inspection, traveled back to visit family, an...d lived a normal life—there was never any reason for me to think something was wrong. As a young adult, I got married and tried to fix my status on my own. Without guidance, I made mistakes in the process and was ultimately denied and placed in removal proceedings. At that point, I felt like everything I had built—my family, my life—was about to be taken away. I have four young daughters and a wife I’ve known since we were teenagers. I had never been in trouble, not even a traffic ticket, yet I was facing losing everything. When I came to Attorney Aleshire, I had no hope left.
