    ALAN S. NOVICK

    Alan S. Novick is a founding member of Novick Law Offices (New Bedford, Massachusetts and Naples, Florida).  He received his B.A. from Harvard College in 1955, his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1958, and his LL.M. (Master of Laws in Taxation) from Boston University Law School in 1964.  Mr. Novick is a member of both the Massachusetts and Florida bars.  He served as a special assistant attorney general of Massachusetts under Attorney General Elliot Richardson and Attorney General Robert Quinn.  In both administrations he was trial counsel in the defense of eminent domain cases.  He is also a member of numerous bar associations including the American Bar Association, The Massachusetts Bar Association, The Collier County Bar Association, and the Bristol County Bar Association. He is a past chair of the American Bar Association Trust and Probate Section Committee on Multi-Jurisdictional Problems.  Mr. Novick has appeared as a panelist at ABA meetings and Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education seminars, and lectured at Massachusetts and Florida bank seminars, before the American Society of Appraisers, the Life Underwriters Association, estate planning councils and Chamber of Commerce seminars.  He is a contributing author to the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education publications entitled Handling the Simple Estate Plan, Last Rights for  Massachusetts Estate Tax, and the two volume treatise, Massachusetts Estate Planning Guide.  He has written articles for publication in TAXES - The Magazine and the Massachusetts Law Quarterly and for 12 years wrote a weekly estate planning column for the Naples Daily News.  His column was syndicated by Scripps Howard News Service for three years and went out to some 400 papers each week.  He has also been a contributing columnist to the Legal Forum of the Naples Daily News

    Mr. Novick is a Florida Bar Board Certified Wills, Trusts and Estates Lawyer.

    Well before the Enron cases, and ERISA, Atty. Novick successfully represented a group of pensioners whose pensions were taken away from them.  The case went all the way to the United States Supreme Court where Mr. Novick successfully had his verdict upheld.

    Attorney Novick has lectured on the problems of determining domicile, the tax ramifications of differing domiciles, the preparation of appraisers as witnesses in valuation cases, training younger lawyers to be prepared to do estate planning law including the drafting of wills, living wills, trusts,  and a wide range of subjects which apply to both the wealthiest of families as well as modest families who need to start either their estate planning or their retirement planning.
