Matthew Ryan Hochstetler

Matt is a partner in the boutique trusts-and-estates firm of David J. Simmons & Associates LLC. He focuses his practice on estate planning, probate, trust administration, and business-succession planning for high-net-worth individuals.  Matt  guides clients in matters regarding intergenerational wealth transfer and taxation strategies to preserve their hard-earned wealth. He enjoys building relationships with his clients and takes the time to listen to their goals to create a custom estate plan for each family’s unique needs. 

Matt  teaches clients the importance of wills, trusts, guardianships, powers of attorney, and other estate-planning tools so they understand how these documents are used to protect themselves and their families. Business clients rely on  his  legal knowledge to advise them in matters regarding business strategy, entity selection, taxation, estate planning, and business-succession planning.

Because Matt  is also admitted to practice in Florida, he can help determine the best estate-planning strategy for those that divide their time between Ohio and Florida. These issues range from assisting on the closing and settlement on the purchase of Florida real estate, advising as to Florida homestead laws, and guiding clients through Florida residency decisions.

Matt was previously a partner in the Canton law firm of Day Ketterer, where he served as chair of the firm’s trusts-and-estates practice. When he isn’t working or at home with his wife and children, he is an active member of the Wooster community, where he is the Treasurer for Citizens for Amstutz, and races bicycles as part of the Ride-On Wooster Cycling Team. Finally,  Matt  loves reading and learning, so you can frequently find him with a good book.
