I need an attorney for my divorce in 1995. Cary was a good listener and was ready to move things along with the opposing lawyer and my wife. What should have been quick and simple was dragged out due to wife's unrealistic expectations and desire to create dramatic pressure. I have known Cary Cliff for over 16 years. I first met him when I was a Guardian ad Litum and a member of the Citizens Foster Care Review Board. At the time, I had no need for a lawyer. But unfortunately, the time did come when I needed to fight for my right as a single mom to move from Florida to... Tennessee, where my fiancee' resided. I had witnessed Cary in the courtroom on multiple occasions and was always impressed at how hard he fought for his clients (and I should say we were NOT always on the "same side of the fence" in certain cases!). I did not even think twice about who I wanted representing me when I needed someone! I did not need him again for 6 years, but when I did, he was incredibly supportive, and though it was just a phone call, he didn't even send me a bill! Sadly, over the last three years we have been in a nasty battle with my son's father. Cary has spent COUNTLESS hours on my case. More importantly though, he has spent sooo much time with ME ... listening, advising, and comforting this sometimes hysterical mother! He gave me his cell phone number and has always taken my calls (even the weekend ones!) One Saturday when I was especially upset he went to his office just to double check on something for me! I have ALWAYS felt that Cary was 100% on my side and available for me. On one occasion Amanda, his paralegal, called to set up a time for him to talk to me because he knew I was upset and needing reassurance (and he didn't even charge me for the phone call!) I wanted to give so much detail on this review because I think it's important when you're reviewing a professional who is as important as a family lawyer, to have an HONEST review. And this one is. There is nothing more important than when you're fighting for the safety and well-being of your children. I can say with 100% certainty that Cary will fight for his clients with all he's got.

Cary was ineffective and horribly disorganized. He made several mistakes, blamed me, was incapable of effective cross examination, refused meaningful preparation, missed deadlines, was impossible to get in touch with- his office frequently didn't know his schedule or would schedule meetings that he ...would miss all together (and then blame his staff, who clearly take the fall for his disorganization frequently. I had to retain new counsel and ultimately would have been better off never having hired him because his ineffectiveness and disorganization hurt my case.
