Biography
Jeffrey R. Kuhns is an attorney and the founder of Kuhns Law Firm, PLLC, located in Punta Gorda, Florida. Mr. Kuhns practices estate planning, business, real estate and tax law, serving clients throughout the state of Florida. He has experience with business strategy, probate, revocable living trusts, irevocable trusts and wills.
Mr. Kuhns has been licensed to practice law since 2011. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California. Before attending law school, he was employed by the Shoah Foundation Institute for Visual History and Education, an organization committed to the preservation of Holocaust testimonials. He went on to attend and graduate from Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa, California.
Following law school, Mr. Kuhns worked for the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) office of Chief Council in Los Angeles while obtaining a master of laws degree from Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law. He later worked for private law firms in Charlotte County and Fort Myers, Florida, before opening his own practice.
As part of his business and estate planning practice, Mr. Kuhns advises Florida residents on various legal issues. He has a diverse client base, consisting of permanent and seasonal Florida residents, as well as foreign property owners, purchasers and sellers. He uses his broad range of knowledge to educate and advise his clients on the best strategies and solutions for their specific circumstances. Mr. Kuhns uses his designation as a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization to craft easy to understand estates plans which are designed to minimize taxes, and protect, preserve and efficiently transfer wealth to the next generation.
As a complement to his practice, Mr. Kuhns lectures at professional events on estate planning, probate, trust administration and tax planning issues. He also speaks on specific Florida residency requirements in these areas.
Mr. Kuhns is a graduate of Culver Military Academy where he received numerous awards in leadership.
