DO NOT HIRE

I wont go into all details and try to make it short. We had NO CLUE about probates. Coming from two states that don't require them. We hired Matt before we realized we should have hired the original lawyer who drew up the will. He was cheap and said it will not take the 6mths the normal probates ...would take. Well even before we started the probate he had TO MANY PERSONAL ISSUES. Coming up with excuses and it took awhile but we got it done. The only thing in the will was the division of the sale of the home. We were given a gift(car) prier to my father-in-law passing. I doubt he knew the car had to be in the will as well, for taking care of my mother-in-law and him for 4 yrs after we moved down here to do so. Also I found out I have cancer and our car had to much mileage on it. My father in law was very secretive about his health and never told us how bad it was. We had the car for two weeks and never got to do the title transfer before he passed. NOT KNOWING that the car had to go through the probate until we went to transfer it. Well Matt said he will take care of it and file with the judge for an exemption. This was in JULY when we asked Matt to help. OVER N OVER again he said he said NOT TO WORRY. Told us DO NOT BUY another car. It will all work out. He will help and gave us hope. It is our only transportation for me to go get my treatments and my husband LOST his job in the mean time because he couldn't drive the car for it. We figure we can work on a cop with sympathy. Well we got screwed!! We have to get all the other heirs to sign the title so we can get it transferred! We know we will have an issue with his sister because the two DO NOT GET ALONG. SO now the car is ROTTING IN OUR DRIVEWAY. Will never get driven and we can get fined because we live in a community and if they see the registration expired they can fine us. Now I have to find another way to get to my treatments. Which are 21 miles from my home. My husband lost his job and we are on a fixed SS income now. ALL ALONG he kept saying do not worry, it will be ok, he knew the situation yet he screwed us again. The first was with the will. So much for getting an exemption he said he was going to ask for. Four months of waiting thinking it will ok. To find out now we can't buy a car and have nothing! My husband talked to him today and MATT called me and my husband liars! That was a low blow. DO NOT TRUST HIM! He has to much on his plate and will NOT WORK FOR YOU!

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
