Against All Odds

I did not like Chris Yeazell...until he saved my life. At first, I thought his communication was rough on the edges, but that is irrelevant compared to his lawyering skills. When your life is on the line and you are facing 25 years in prison, he pulls no punches. I have never seen or even heard of a ...lawyer going above and beyond in regards to dissecting a case piece by piece. He dismantled the prosecution so thoroughly (in a 5 day trial) to render a NOT GUILTY finding. Not only did he file 20 motions over a 3 year period , he even made additional motions for an appellate filing if the case went south. Chris Yeazell had such an uphill battle with the judge overruling almost every objection that he made, (due to previous case law,) where prior accusations on the behalf of the plaintiff were key factors. Even the judge stated it was one of the best arguments he had heard in years. This is a highly experienced trial lawyer who will fight to the death for his client, and does not try to get his client to take a plea if there is a chance that they are not guilty. The amount of inconsistencies he uncovered against the plaintiff testimony was staggering. In the end, there was no hung jury or withheld judication, the jury came back with a decisive NOT GUILTY finding. In cases like mine, there is a 93% conviction rate in Florida, with a minimum mandatory 25 years to life sentence. Chris overcame against all odds, including having to prepare both ways if the judge overruled his objection. On top of that, congress came up with a new law that was just passed only weeks before the trial, stating that, in all capital cases, there is, with no exception, 12 jurors overseeing the case. That was now cut in half to 6 jurors, (unless it's a death row case.) In my case, he was prepared for all eventualities, including two prosecutors against just him. Chris Yeazell, hands down, saved my life, above and beyond, and I will never forget how thorough he was. I am no longer bothered by his rough-on-the-edge communication skills.
