Results-oriented and hard worker; LGBT friendly

While my case is not yet finalized, I have no hesitation in reviewing the Law Offices of Tara J. Scott. Ms. Scott is trustworthy, has appropriate empathy and is hard-working. Her office team is also top-notch. Paralegal Rebecca Argeaux-Ott is very quick to respond and communicates well. At the be...ginning stages of my case, I needed an emergency hearing; all of the members of the office were responsive, quick to action and worked to ensure a positive resolution. As a member of the LGBT community and as a father, I was concerned that some attorneys may show judgment or lack of knowledge regarding the law; Ms. Scott is well-versed in the law, especially concerning LGBT rights, and is considerate of gay parenting. I would highly recommend Ms. Scott and her law office.

dont use this attorney

Hired ms scott two years ago. In those two years she has hired and fired about 10 paralegals. The lack of communication from her and her office was always crazy. I stayed due to the people that sent me to her and she knew my case and also agree after the intial 5,000.00 was done she would take paymen...ts for anyrhing else that she needed. When she was done with the 5,000.00 i was told she would not take payments and i had to find a new attorney or pay another retainer. I asked her aboyt the agreement for payments and was told that was before she had a heart attack and needed to lighten her case load. I said i would be in touch to let her know what i was gonna do. I called back to ask a question when a paralegal answered and when i explained what tara said i was told she hadnt had a heart attack but was in hospital due to stress but she was fine. I was told that she pulls this with alot if cliets that question something she does. I was told she tries to get rid of those cliets so i ended up paying another 1,000.00 despite everything cyz it was still easier to keep her on. During this time she went through another 4 paralegals n then mt daughters father n his attorney offered a deal. I agreed to take the deal i went back in forth with things i wanted and the wording...in between this time tara fired this paralegal then also n said she was closing her office n she was going to work from hm....i knew my case was sooo close to being done i just prayed i could get it finished n then id be fine...for whatever reason tara had stuff in the parenting plan n thentook it out..i asked her to put it back in n she said ok the next email she sent a few days later said the father signed everything n i just had to sign also...when i looked before signing i saw that tara still had not made the changes ibasked her to make n did not readd what she took out n so i said i wasnt siging it until she fixed the parenting plan n readded what she took out but was in their to start...she replied to me n said go get another attorney...im filing my motion to withdrawl...i was in shock that i couldnt say to her that there was a mistake..i know everyone makes mistakes so no big deal she made a mistake just admit it n fix it n it would of been fine but no tara took thinfs to a whole new level...very unprofessional n i plan on filing a complaint with the fl bar as i feel she is leaving me high n dry at the end...very very end with not another 5,000.00 for another retainer for a new attorney so when u leave people like that...i just feel what she did was not ok. I also after calling around to other attorneys found out more...another attorney i talked to said that i was the second person that had told him this same thing happened to them within the last week n it was from the same attorney (tara) so for me it was more proof that she is wrong and i have also found some of her other paralegals that she firrd throughout the years during calling ariund trying to see if other attorneys would help me finish this case and the things her other paralegals havebtold me about her prooves for me she is sooo unprofessional but for me she is also unethical...but the fl bar i guess will decided if she is unethical to them but if nothing else plz no one use this attorney...run run...she is sooo unprofessional..doesnt keep u up to date on ur case either..u ask her things and sje ignores u n wont answer u..i am not anonymous so plz feel free to contact me with any questions or if u used her n jad a bad exp also. The more of us that get together we can hopefully stop her.

Poise and Dignity

My family was going through a very troubled time and on top of everything else going on I was assisting my daughter to look for a divorce attorney. Not something you really think about until you find yourself looking around wondering where I begin looking for the best qualified attorney out there. I ...asked a my accountant a professional working in the area for numerous years if she knew anyone that she would personally recommend and Ms. Scott was that attorney for which I couldn’t be more grateful. Ms. Scott handled the case with dignity and poise regardless of what transpired both in and out of the court room. Ms. Scott is very intelligent and knows how the judicial system works; she doesn’t take short cuts and was always working tirelessly towards our desired outcome. Everything was explained to us throughout the process yet we still inundated her with calls and emails when we felt issues were arising which she handled as quickly and efficiently as she could. She even conducted in office meetings and teleconferences to provide us with the current status of the case as well as the plan going forward. I guess using the analogy of a doctor having a multitude of patients so you can’t just walk in their office and demand to be seen, our attorney also has other clients and is not at our beck and call even if we believe our case is the most important. So while we learned to dial it down a bit, Ms. Scott did everything she could to safeguard the wellbeing of my daughter and grandson by hiring experts in their field when needed to look after my family’s interests. I was rather surprised by some of the negative comments here about Ms. Scott. Having gone through this process and witnessing other cases that coincided with ours I believe too many people are approaching this process with aspirations of instant gratification, “the lawyer on television was able to wrap up their case in an hour” so why can’t you? Why is my case taking so long? While not expecting it to wrap up in an hour or a week I was surprised at how long it transpired, had I not experienced it myself I would have had no idea that our judicial system just doesn’t work that way. There are so many necessary steps that our attorney had to take to bring our desired outcome to fruition. Heck just waiting to get back on the judge’s calendar for our next 30-60 minute appearance, then waiting for court dates so our issues to be heard. I feel we should bear in mind that just as we have our mind made up as to the preferred results upon conclusion of the case so does the opposing party so until all involved reach a happy medium the case will continue to be litigated. Another point worth mentioning is if you have everything all figured out why are you hiring a lawyer to begin with? When I hire a lawyer I am doing so because they are the subject matter experts in their field, while providing relevant details is important, telling my lawyer how to litigate the case is not going to provide me with the anticipated outcome I am looking for. Finally I would recommend approaching the process with realistic expectations and checking your emotions at the door because they tend to be the root of most the disagreements that occur. In closing I would like to thank Ms. Scott profusely for the time consuming effort you put into our case. I would also like to publicly apologize for everything you endured during this case as a result of being our attorney. May all your future cases be less emotionally charged than what you experienced with ours.

Pleased

I honestly do not have enough good things to say about Tara and her staff. After my divorce, my credit went downhill and eventually got so bad I had to file a chapter 7 bankruptcy. I did a quick Google search and discovered the Law Office of Tara J. Scott. Thank goodness I ended up in the hands o...f Tara and her staff. They were all friendly and incredibly professional during the whole process. You can tell that Tara knows her stuff and is very clear and to the point. She tells you how it is. They helped move things along quickly. Thank you so much Tara and staff!
