Larry Beltz has been representing the injured for over 40 years, having received his Juris Doctor degree from Florida State University in 1970. In 1979, Larry Beltz was the founder and sole stockholder of Larry D. Beltz, P.A., a personal injury law firm. Over the years the firm went through many name changes ultimately resulting in the name of Beltz & Ruth, P.A. Mr. Beltz left Beltz & Ruth in late 2015, at which time he joined with his daughter, Jennifer R. Beltz, who has been practicing law for over 20 years and formed the firm of Beltz & Beltz. The firm will only represent the injured as Mr. Beltz has done for over 40 years.
He has never represented insurance companies or large corporations, and never will. As he has said many times: “We don’t represent the rich and the powerful — we sue the rich and the powerful.” Mr. Beltz has handled thousands of civil cases, many involving catastrophic injuries, resulting in settlements or verdicts in the millions of dollars, including auto accidents, motorcycle accidents, nursing home abuse, medical malpractice, defective drug cases and product liability claims. He is not only a member of the Million Dollar Advocates’ Forum, but also a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates’ Forum. This exclusive organization only admits attorneys who have demonstrated exceptional skill, experience and excellence in advocacy, and who have recovered in excess of $2 million for individual clients.
In 1978, he tried one of the first nursing home cases to be tried in the State of Florida. Subsequent to that trial, he settled a nursing home case where the actual damages were only $2,200, for the incredible sum of $500,000 (including punitive damages).
Mr. Beltz is admitted to practice in every state court in the State of Florida. He has tried cases in state court throughout west central Florida and tried federal cases in the Middle District of Florida. He has served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. He is also admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
Mr. Beltz is a member of The Florida Bar, Florida Justice Association (formerly known as the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers) and the St. Petersburg Bar Association. He was Chairman of the Ethics Committee of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers of 1987 and a member of the Ethics Committee for The Florida Bar for the term of 1987 through 1990. He has served on local grievance committees for The Florida Bar.
