Michael Keegan Kiernan

Michael K. Kiernan, born St. Petersburg, Florida, February 7, 1958; admitted to the Iowa Bar in 1983; Florida Bar in 1984; United States District Court, Southern District of Iowa in 1983; United States District Court, Middle District of Florida in 1984; United States Supreme Court, 1994.

After his admission to the Iowa State Bar, Mr. Kiernan was employed as an Associate with Mumford, Schrage, Merriman & Zurkek P.C. in Des Moines, Iowa.  In 1984, Mr. Kiernan became associated with Lyle & Skipper, P.A.  He became a shareholder at Lyle & Skipper, P.A. in 1987.  Mr. Kiernan became a Partner with our Firm on April 1, 1991.

Mr. Kiernan's practice is primarily focused in the following areas: first party defense, third party defense, insurance coverage litigation, property insurance claims including sinkhole and mold litigation, extra-contractual liability, fraud litigation, arson litigation, asbestos litigation, industrial accidents, toxic tort litigation, professional liability, products liability, construction litigation and complex litigation/bodily injury matters.

Mr. Kiernan has been counsel in approximately 40 trials, including cases tried in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee, Collier and Citrus counties.  He has presented numerous seminars and has been the feature speaker on many occasions regarding insurance defense matters, including property insurance, extra-contractual matters and mold litigation.
