Chelsea Mary Nowel

Chelsea was raised in the U.S., Canada, and France and was exposed to people from all over the world. She received her Honors Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, Trinity College where she double majored in Political Science and Latin American Studies. She received her law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law where she graduated Cum Laude, and worked on Law Review as a published executive editor.

After graduating from the University of Toronto, Chelsea went to work in refugee resettlement in Cleveland, Ohio. She resettled clients from South East Asia, Africa, and the Middle East assisting them with housing, employment, and public benefits. Although she enjoyed the clients, she was frustrated that she could not provide long-lasting solutions to their legal problems. It was at that time that she realized her desire to practice Immigration and Nationality law. As a result she applied to law school and spent that time volunteering in the Catholic Charities Immigration Department and at the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland’s Immigration Practice. She also spent a full semester at the Cleveland Immigration Court drafting asylum decisions for Judge Alison Brown.

After graduating from law school, Chelsea spent three months employed abroad in the Seychelles’ Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, working on a variety of issues including constitutional law, property law, and criminal law reform under the direct supervision of Chief Justice Twomey.

Chelsea joined Maney | Gordon | Zeller, P.A. in December of 2016 as an Associate Attorney in its Immigration Help Center, and represents the firm's clients in all areas of Immigration law, including family immigration, asylum, immigration litigation (deportation and removal defense) and humanitarian visas for victims of crime.

Chelsea was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 2016, and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
