Attorney Danielle Villamil graduated from Florida State University in 2008 and from the Florida State College of Law in 2010. During school, she worked as a Certified Legal Intern for the State Attorney's Office in the Second Judicial Circuit, and worked as a legal assistant in a law firm handling family and real estate matters. After graduation, she passed the Florida Bar exam on her first attempt and was admitted to the bar in 2011. She assisted with federal civil litigation at the Attorney General's Office in Tallahassee and continued working in civil and administrative practice through 2016, including 3 years as a hearing officer with the Department of Children and Families before returning to criminal law.
As a judicial staff attorney for approximately 2.5 years, Danielle assisted judges with hundreds of cases. The majority of her work was in postconviction and criminal appeals, but she assisted the judges with civil trial matters and anything else requiring research and analysis. After that, she spent nearly 4 years working as a prosecutor in Hillsborough County handling all aspects of misdemeanor, felony, and juvenile cases, including jury trials and nonjury trials. She was often tasked with difficult cases involving complicated constitutional law issues.
Having worked on all sides of a case as a prosecutor, hearing officer, assisting judges with their decisions, and now as a defense attorney, Danielle is well-positioned to analyze a case from various perspectives to determine the best strategies for clients. She has extensive experience in criminal litigation and can assist you and your loved ones with navigating the criminal justice system both before and after a conviction.
Danielle is admitted to practice in all Florida state county and circuit courts as well as the U.S. Middle District of Florida and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Danielle Villamil is a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and the Hillsborough Association of Women Lawyers.
