Sarah Elizabeth Kay

Through her work at Kay Family Law PLLC in Tampa, Florida, Sarah E. Kay, Esq. BCS serves Florida’s families with compassion and clarity as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law and Appellate Mediator and a dedicated collaborative attorney. She extends her knowledge and experience beyond the courtroom, supporting solo and small law firms statewide with freelance research, writing, consulting, and coaching aimed at strengthening legal practices and outcomes.

Guided by a strong commitment to supporting others and strengthening the legal community, Sarah has played an active role in initiatives that promote growth, collaboration, and professional excellence within the field. Her leadership—as Chair of The Family Law Section of The Florida Bar during its milestone 50th anniversary, President of the Hillsborough Association for Women Lawyers, and President of the HCBA Leadership Institute Class of 2013—reflects her dedication to cultivating excellence, mentorship, and innovation within the legal community. Her current appointments to the Florida Supreme Court Steering Committee on Families and Children in the Court (2024) and The Florida Bar Standing Committee on Professionalism (2025) continue that mission, with a focus on ethical leadership and innovative approaches to strengthening the legal system for Florida’s families.

Sarah’s passion for continuous learning and meaningful impact is evident in her educational achievements. She is Board Certified in Marital & Family Law by The Florida Bar and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). She holds a Juris Doctor, a Master’s in Education, and an MBA, along with multiple professional certifications including in Special Education Advocacy from William & Mary Law School, Neurodiversity, Cognitive Behavioral Education, and Trauma & Resilience from FSU, and Conflict Resolution from Cornell.

Sarah brings warmth, clarity, and conviction to her work as a speaker, writer, consultant, and coach. Her passion for legal innovation, inclusive dispute resolution, and advocacy for children with special needs fuels her commitment to advancing thoughtful, informed practices that uplift both the profession and the families it serves.
