Biography
Ron Frey is a Tampa criminal defense lawyer and the founder of The Frey Law Firm, LLC, located in downtown Tampa a short walk from the Hillsborough County courthouses and the Sam M. Gibbons U.S. Courthouse. He has defended people facing criminal charges and investigations in state and federal court since 2004.
His practice is centered in Tampa Bay, in the Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco County courts and in federal court in the Middle District of Florida. He also represents clients in state courts throughout Florida and in federal courts in other districts.
A large part of his practice involves computer, internet and AI-related investigations, including online solicitation and sting cases, child pornography (CSAM) allegations, hacking and Computer Fraud and Abuse Act charges, online and cryptocurrency fraud, sextortion, and deepfake and AI-generated image cases. He has spoken at criminal defense conferences and CLE programs nationwide on computer forensics, peer-to-peer investigations and digital search and seizure, and taught computers and the law, criminal law, criminal procedure and constitutional law for many years as an adjunct professor at Ursuline College.
He also defends first-time offenders, licensed professionals, and people facing white collar and fraud, drug, DUI, violent crime and sex offense charges, as well as criminal appeals.
Licensed in Florida, Ohio and North Carolina. Admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States and the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, and the Eastern and Western Districts of North Carolina.
