Peter James Hobson

Peter J. Hobson was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1981 and in the State of Florida in 1983.  Since 1983 Peter has been engaged in a very broad practice which covers many areas of law that affects the everyday lives of the people in his community.  Peter believes that the general practice has afforded him an opportunity to better counsel clients in the areas of the law.

Peter graduated from Villanova University in 1973 with a Political Science degree.  Thereafter he was employed as a Thoroughbred Racing Official at various thoroughbred race tracks throughout the Northeast, including Pennsylvania and Kentucky.  In 1981 Peter graduated from the Delaware Law School and relocated to Tampa shortly thereafter.

Peter has not only represented individuals in the various areas of the law, but also corporations.  For a seven-year period of time Peter was in house counsel with a local corporation with sales of approximately $165,000, and over 300 employees.

Today Peter’s practice includes, but is not limited to, general litigation, corporate and individual representation, Family Law, Criminal Law, and Probate.  Peter has also developed a recognition and reputation for amateur athletics and the legal issues that confront the same.

Peter has appeared on national broadcasts as both a guest commentator and as a representative of his client. He has been requested to represent professional athletes and other public figures in cases of notoriety. He was also the attorney of record in what might be the largest child support arrearage action having his client awarded a judgment in excess of $2,200,.

Peter’s past and present civic involvement includes the Glacier Children’s Museum, Tampa Bay Regional Health Information Organization, The Tampa Bay Partnership, The Tampa Aids Network, Leadership Tampa, Tampa Bay Partnership CEO Direct Class 2001, Villanova Alumni Chapter Tampa Bay, Jesuit High School Dad’s Club, Academy of the Holy Names Dad’s Club, Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish Counsel, Police Athletic League and St. Peter Claver Catholic School Advisory Board, St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Peter and his wife, Ann, live in Temple Terrace, Florida, and have three children, Laura, Peter Jr., and Katherine.
