James Marshall Moorhead joined Adams and Reese in 2011 and is a Partner in the firm’s Tampa office as part of the Transactions and Corporate Advisory Practice Group.
The Bradenton native has over seven years of professional experience in diverse practice areas including commercial litigation, workouts of complex commercial transactions, energy, construction, and government procurement. His most recent experience at Adams and Reese includes interest rate swap agreement litigation on behalf of institutional clients under the guidelines promulgated by the International Swap and Derivatives Association, Inc. (ISDA), and the statutory and regulatory framework applicable to military and commercial unmanned aerial systems (aka drones).

Marshall previously served as a Captain and Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps. In his final assignment with the United States Marines in 2010, he completed a one year deployment to Helmand Province, Afghanistan during the height of the Afghan surge where he served as the attorney Officer-In-Charge for procurement, claims, and regulatory compliance. Marshall received several military awards including the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Marine Corps Meritorious Unit Citation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and NATO International Security Assistance Force Service Medal.
Marshall earned his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law in 2006, and his B.A. in Economics from the University of South Florida Honors College in 2004. Marshall studied International Relations at the University of Cambridge, Magdalene College, in Cambridge, England, and he completed an Exchange Semester during law school at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England, where he studied international intellectual property law and International Humanitarian Law.
Marshall is a graduate of the Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island, and he also completed numerous courses at the United States Army JAG School in Charlottesville, Virginia, United States Air Force JAG School in Montgomery, Alabama, and United States Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA.
In his spare time, Marshall enjoys spending time doing pro bono for servicemembers, saltwater fishing, and watching the Tampa Bay Lightning.
