Khara A. Alvero

In September, 2007, the Hernando County State Attorney's Office (SAO) filed a complaint against me for a worthless check that I forgot to remit while working on my Ph.D. at Florida A&M University (FAMU). A college friend referred me to Mrs. Alvero for help. Mrs. Alvero told me what her retainer fee w...as, and I paid it. I also paid the merchant for the check and included the fees before going to court. Mrs. Alvero accompanied me to court. My case was Nolle Pros, which is basically a dismissal, and case was resolved. It started out simply as a consultation because my ex husband was maneuvering to take my child away from me. It took three years as the case developed and became custody and child support. I was very glad to have hired her from the beginning. Ms. Alvero walked me through every bit of it. At the w...orst time of it she didn't candy-coat anything, and was very direct when it looked as though I might lose. All of her directions, suggestions and recommendations were spot on. I did what she said even when it seemed quite hopeless. Every time my ex husband's attorney tried another postponement she would petition for more information. She kept at it until she had enough to win this case. Before we went to the final hearing she explained to me how she would present our case. She was extremely thorough pointing out how the documentation did not support his testimony. I was the better client and she was the better attorney and that was a winning combination. When it comes to the physical, moral and psychological well being of your precious child, she is the only attorney I would call.

Khara Alvero to your face is all smiles and "gun hoe" about doing everything to better your case. When it comes down to it she is a paper pusher who is reactive instead of being proactive. I was told by Khara that the courts were backed up and to get in front of the judge for contempt of court, again...st my ex, would be over 6 months. Needless to say it was not worth her time and every time I asked Khara to file a contempt of court against my ex she never did. Eventually I wound up googling how to do it and had a court date for contempt of court against my ex for 3 weeks out. I was always on the defensive in defending against my exes attorney with never any paperwork or court filing to put her and her attorney on their toes. Like I said, defensive. Needless to say as soon as my retainer of $5k was burnt through she said she was no longer my attorney and I would have to rehire her back with another retainer of $5k for her to do anything for me. Just do yourself a favor and keep on moving.
