Mara Lynn Shaughnessy

DO NOT USE THIS LAWYER!! Similar to other reviews, once she had the money she did not do her job! I dealt mostly with her paralegal. In order to get what i needed done i had to stay on top of Mara. ALL the paperwork that Mara did for me had several errors. The most notable was that she had my name c...ompletely wrong on legal custody documents. I assume it was a previous clients name!! At one point she even had me listed as the father instead of mother on my custody agreement and also had my daughters initials wrong. There are many more!! Her staff lost my paperwork that had my personal information on it and asked me to resend ( I did not) We had one court call that I was forced to get on even thought we no longer needed it....Mara just didn't show up to the call!!! After my case was closed with no help from Mara I asked to see my account information to ask if I was eligible for a reimbursement since she did almost nothing on the case. She said she was going to send and a month has gone by and she wont return my emails. DO NOT USE HER!!! SHE IS HORRIBLE

Upon a phone consolation I hired Ms. Shaughnessy to handle the sale of our home as we live out of state. She was initially responsive. When the retainer was paid, she became very difficult to get a hold of, and took literally 2-3 days to respond to emails. Real Estate contracts had typos and mispr...ints that I was told to line through. I expected more for the fee we paid. When the sale of our home fell through do to the buyer not getting approved for adequate funds, we almost lost the escrow do to attorney oversight on the additional clauses on a contract written by her firm. I was also never given any refund or compensation since the transaction never went through, nor was I given an itemized list of billable hours which I requested in mid-march. Attorney took days to respond both to our buyer, their broker, and us. Would not use. Her staff is also very curt and unhelpful.

We spoke with Ms Shaughnessy after accidentally being thrown into foreclosure by our mortgage company. We had a consultation in which we thought she would be able to successfully handle our case. We paid her a $1000 retainer fee and after that it was all downhill. She missed the court deadlines for r...esponse, did not promptly call us back and her staff was rude on top of that. I would not recommend her in the future.

I hired Ms. Shaughnessy to assist me with the short sale of my home. She was very informative and helpful during the intitial consultation, & I looked forward to working with her. All she needed to get started was my $1,000 retainer. Too make a long story short, I gave her my hard earned $1,000 only ...to never speak with her again. I called, left messages for her, never a call back. I was only able to relay messages to her through the secretary. Out of frusturation, I requested my money back & was told that my case would be reviewed to see what $ remains. Unless my 20 minute consultation was $1,000, I thought for sure I would get most if not all of my money back. After a couple months and many follow up calls, I finally got a letter in the mail telling me that I would not be getting any of my money back. I had my realtor follow up to at least try and get something for my money, but I'm not sure what was actually done, if anything. I learned my lesson, but hopefully someone will read this & be fortunate enough to spend their money elsewhere.
