I would have been better off handling my divorce myself...

We had hearing after hearing over things that had no benefit to myself or my case. I had to go months without seeing my child because that wasn't her priority. She then let my case set for several months when my ex was trying to settle and actually give me a decent deal. During an incredibly difficul...t time she made it worse. In the end I got screwed royally and would have been better off doing it on my own.

We are really sorry that you feel this way, and we wish we could have discuss this in person - face to face. Unfortunately, the legal process does not always work in the way that one hopes or expects that it would. There are hearings and discussions that take place that may not seem beneficial to you at the time, but the legal ramifications of those hearings and/or discussions may be setting a precedent for future motions and decisions, particularly as you prepare for a Final hearing. As for actions taking a lengthier time than what you would have preferred, our office works very hard to coordinate hearings between multiple calendars—the Judge’s, Opposing Counsel’s, our own as well as the client’s calendar. The process can be more difficult when you have a client who is out of state. Judges and attorneys schedule their calendars months in advance which can result a substantial delay between the time of filing a Motion and the date of the actual hearing or continued hearing. Our office also uses a team approach to expedite hearing availability by checking the calendars of other attorneys in the office to see if a matter could be heard sooner. Whenever our office receives an offer of settlement, we dutifully send the offer to the client with our legal opinion. I cannot speculate as to whether something is a “decent offer” but if there is not a complete ‘meeting of the minds’ (agreeing to each and every term) between the parties there is no agreement. In family law matters that usually means there is no agreement until it is in writing and signed by both parties. I know its easy to say that doing it "DIY" would be better but if you do not know the law and the other side has an attorney and that attorney knows the law, it is like going into a gun fight with your fists. We would welcome the opportunity to sit down with you and discuss this matter with you in more detail, however, an online review forum is not the place. Please call us to set up a time to discuss any questions or concerns you have.

Handled (and won) my case with the utmost professionalism

I hired Ms. Hooglander to represent me in a post-modification child support case. Although post-mods are time-consuming - I was assured all through the process of the status of my case. In the end, my case was won and I couldn't be happier with the results. If you are seeking a family law atto...rney in Brandon /Tampa Bay, Ingrid Hooglander comes highly recommended.
