Charles R. Morgenstein

I am one of the few (less than 50 at this time) lawers Board Certified by The Florida Bar in Aviation Law.  

I am the past-Chair of the Aviation Law Committee of The Florida Bar.  I am the Secretary of the Lawyer Pilots Bar Association, and the past Treasurer of the National Transportation Safety Board Bar Association (now the International Aviation and Transportation Safety Bar Association) both International organizations of long-standing.  I am a Member of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA); Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA); Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA); South Florida Business Aviation Association (SFBAA); and a Member and 3-term past-President of the Boca Raton Pilots Association.  I am a long-time panel attorney for the AOPA Legal Services Plan.

I have been a featured speaker at Airventure (Oshkosh), Sun N Fun, and NBAA forums.  I am the former monthly columnist for Aircraft Onwer Online magazine on aviation law.  I had the privilege of interviewing members of the National Transportation Safety Board, and several of the Aministrative Law Judges deciding appeals from FAA Enforcement Actions.

I have happily assisted in structuring the sales, leases, purchases and other types of transactions all the way from C-150s to G-IVs and Falcon 2000s.  I have saved clients millions of dollars in state sales taxes by structuring their transactions in legal ways.  I have been involved in 1031 exchanges and reverse exchanges.

I take pride in my record of defending Certificated Airmen, Mechanics, Certified Repair Stations and other Certificated individuals and entities, when the FAA threatens them with Proposed Certificate Actions, Proposed Civil Penalties, Forfietures and Criminal Prosecution.  I love to help pilots, crewmembers, mechanics and others in our aviation community.

Since 2004, I have practiced Aviation Law EXCLUSIVELY.

In addition to my law practice, I also serve as the Executive Director of Vets Helpiing Heroes, Inc., a 501c3 charlity which raises money to buy Service Dogs for Wounded Veterans.  I previously served as a Board Member and Treasurer of the Organization before being asked to take over the day-to-day running of the administrative affairs.  We have raised over $5 million for our cause and have used that money to sponsor nearly 200 dogs for Wounded Vets.  I consider this my opportunity to give back to people who went into harms way so that my family and I did not have to do so, but could remain free in the United States of America.  God Bless our Troops.

For those concerned with the "discipline history" shown in my profile, in 1997, while I was in the midst of an ugly divorce, I did not supervise a person who worked for me in the capacity of "non-lawyer personnel".  I settled the Complaint brought by The Florida Bar, for a one-year period of probation and a written reprimand, along with paying fees, and one-year of continuing my membership with Florida Lawyers Assistance.  That settlement was approved by the Supreme Court of Florida in 2002.  After ten years, The Florida Bar took the notice of prior disciplinary action off of its Web Site in 2012 (that is the "updated in 2012" in small letters under the red letters).  I have never had my license suspended or revoked.  However, AVVO seems to think that you really care about what I did in 1997 so much that it is plastered in big, red letters on my "profile".
