Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"Mr. Hap has a fine reputation in this community, and that has been earned over two (2) decades of practice. I realize that there was a disciplinary issue 7 years ago, but even that was a reprimand and not a suspension, or worse. For all I know, he represented his client very well drawing a complaint from the opposing party, or attorney, or, a judge ruled against his client and the client was understandably unhappy. I do not think that one incident in 21 years should affect Mr. Hap's Avvo rating as drastically as it has, and I have no qualms recommending him as an attorney."

Public Reprimand - with Conditions issued in FL, 2005

updated on 07/31/2012

Public reprimand means the attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The Bar warns the lawyer in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior and places conditions on the lawyer's license.

Jeffrey’s comment:

“This reprimand stemmed from an advertisement that was originally approved by the Florida Bar, and then years later disapproved.”

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline
This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2005
Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
