Peter Ticktin received his first law degree in the University of Western Ontario, in London, Ontario, where he had previously attended Medical School for one year, and where he was active as the Minister of Public Relations on the University’s Student Counsel and where he ran the Student Police Force as Chief. He began practicing law in Ontario, Canada, as a Barrister & Solicitor in 1972. Within his first year of practice, he defeated the Uniform Summons which caused every misdemeanor in the Province of Ontario that used the form to be dismissed.
While in active practice in Ontario, he tried numerous cases and appeared frequently before the Appellate Courts and on one occasion before the Supreme Court of Canada. In the mid-80s, Mr. Ticktin relocated to Florida and commenced his effort to obtain a second law degree which was required for admission to The Florida Bar. He graduated cum laude, was elected into the Order of the Coif (U.S. law school equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa Key), received the Gold Scholarship, and ultimately scored sufficiently high on his Bar Exams that the course he took refer to him and his score in its advertising.
Since his admission to The Florida Bar in 1991, Mr. Ticktin has appeared in the Federal trial and appellate courts of the Southern District of Florida, the Middle District of Florida, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Southern District of New York, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Western District of Texas, the Southern District of Texas and numerous state courts, including the trial and appeal courts, and Supreme Court of Florida, the trial, appellate, and the Supreme Court of California, as well as the trial courts of Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
In his general experience, Mr. Ticktin has been a farmer, a builder, and at one time owned and operated small heavy equipment. He was the CEO of a small public company, The Pony Express, and to this day, he puts the emphasis on “Business” in the category of Business Law for his clients. In the practice of law, he was a leader in the area of HIV litigation and has received a good deal of media attention for his involvement in the odd cases that he handled from monkey bite cases to the intricacies of pharmaceutical products liability cases. He came more to public attention when he won a 2 week trial that was televised on Court TV regarding organ transplants. Mr. Ticktin deals with litigation as a crisis management issue, and aims at relieving the CEO from intricate management of his or her legal issues so that he or she can return to running the business.
Mr. Ticktin’s practice is centered on representing businesses with creative approaches to achieve the most pragmatically sensible results. Mr. Ticktin is also instrumental in supervising and attending to other work of The Ticktin Law Group, P.A., including Divorce, Real Estate, Personal Injury, NASD and other Arbitrations, and Administrative and other areas of the practice of law.

For the matter for which I received a consultation, I felt that Peter had tremendous personal knowledge and experience. But what also impressed me was the sense of integrity and honesty that I got when working with members of the Ticktin Law Group.

Peter Ticktin and his stellar Ticktin team of legal eagles saved my 20-year Palm Beach home (homestead) from foreclosure in TWO separate foreclosure court proceedings, from 2009-2017! AND they are successfully pursuing an award of fees against bank giant Bank of America. Yes, they beat BofA on my beh...

We were rear-ended while at a traffic light while on vacation in fl. The first attorney from Ticktin Law office was on drugs and was terminated 2 years into my case. Ticktin took over and I brought him all my medical records, which he didn't look at. When I went for a deposition a few years later...
I did a thorough search through my records for a "Toby," and there are none who are PI clients. We have a tight ship when it comes to PI. We have top notch attorneys who handle these actions, and we do a great job with great results. I cannot imagine telling a PI client that someone wants their house. This has to be a bogus complaint. I would remember someone coming to my house!

Please look else where for defense! They lost our case… hardly informed us of the situation. We have reported them to the Bar association in hopes they won't do harm to any others seeking help in their defense. They lie to their Clients, misinform them and pass around the cases in hopes their clients...
I have no idea of who this supposed client is. My clients, for the most part are truly happy with my performance. This is probably one of the thousands and thousands of mortgage foreclosure clients we helped. We always advised our clients from the start that we might not win their houses for them. It is amazing how many we did win, though. I suppose that there is always going to be some discontents.
"I endorse this lawyer. I have had the pleasure of working for Peter for over three years. With a vast knowledge of the law and compassion for helping others, choosing Peter as your attorney is the first smart decision that you can make in response to a legal problem."
"Mr. Ticktin is very knowledgeable and always willing to help his colleagues, and especially his clients. Mr. Ticktin cares about his clients and crafts courses of action that are in their best interest."
"I endorse this lawyer. Mr. Ticktin is one of the foremost authorities in foreclosure defense. He has paved the way to change the law in this field and continues to do so through the appeal process."

Suspension issued in FL, 2010
updated on 10/25/2017Suspension means an attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. The attorney typically returns to practicing law when the suspension expires.
“While dealing with the first suspension, The Florida Bar also sought to further suspend me for paying a New York lawyer a referral fee, as he was not a member of the Florida Bar. I accepted a 15 day suspension which was served while I was suspended from the first suspension, even though I did nothing morally wrong. I was guilty of paying where I thought I could.”
Suspension with Conditions issued in FL, 2009
updated on 10/25/2017This means an attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. The attorney typically returns to practicing law when the suspension expires.
“My suspension in 2009 was for advising the shareholders of a publicly traded company that my client who I helped with collections, was no longer a part of the company. As he was my client, any action against him, even letters to shareholders was considered to be a conflict of interest. I was wrong, and severely punished with a 91 day suspension. It should be noted that there was no dishonesty on my part, and my honesty was mitigating factor. The Referee found I was of "high moral character."”
