Excellent advocate, lawyer, and woman

No one ever expects to be "the other guy", the one who by no fault of his own winds up in hospital with thousands of dollars in medical expenses mounting, not to mention untold future medical uncertainties. I became that guy. On top of working, carrying for my wife and children and living my life I... was in an instant thrust into a situation I was completely unprepared for; medically, personally, and legally. Having never been in a lawsuit of any kind I was naturally suspicious of injury attorneys and all that goes along with the profession. Lucky for me, I contacted the right firm and was assigned the RIGHT attorney. A family woman who understood my personal obligations, and a professional who also understood my medical situation and the consequences and outcomes that can arise if not dealt with correctly and competently. My respect for Darla, her firm and indeed her diligence on behalf of me and my family is immense. From day one, Ms. Keen took over the daily aggravation of all insurance and medical inquiries, assuring me that she would handle everything, and fight for my rights and benefits based on the facts of my case. I was kept well informed at all times, checked up on constantly, and made aware of any or all developments - no matter how small. I was copied on all memorandums, emails and other such matters so as to be assured that her work was always being done in my best interest. As I stated, I had never been involved in any litigation let alone injury causing accident, so it was with great relief that I found Darla. Darla was the consummate professional, always anticipating the insurance companies moves, and advising me most wisely of my options, consequences and next move as she steadily proceeded through the insurance company bluffs and rhetoric and stuck to the medical facts. I was never in doubt that I was in the most confident, competent company; so much so that I was looking forward to my "day in court" as I felt Ms. Keen was more than capable. In the end my case never even came close to trial, Ms. Keen's steady representation made each insurance company aware that her intention was to see my case to a jury, hence their undercutting offers were flatly rejected. My case eventually settled for the almost the entire amount insurable. Ms. Keen's professional demeanor even at this juncture gave me the option to move forward to trial, though considering the amount she collected I was more than happy to put the case behind me and move on with my life. Now with my injury surgically repaired, my medical bills paid, and me compensated for my suffering I'm more than willing to personally recommend both Darla and her firm. Hiring an attorney is exactly what they say it is - a serious matter, and I'm so happy that I hired an attorney who took my injury and its resulting consequences as serious as she did. I cannot say enough good things about Darla, and hope I am never in such a situation again, but if I were I know I would call her without a moment's hesitation because she really cares, she is really serious, and she is really competent.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
