Landlord dispute

have known attorney Richard Della Fera for over 10 years. It is so comforting knowing he is always available to advocate for me when I've been taken advantage of by unscrupulous landlords or business owners. It's unfortunate we live in a world where people often don't do the right thing and having... a lawyer with integrity on your side is a gift.

Thank you, Cheryl. I appreciate your sentiments and it's very satisfying to help good people resolve the problems that life unfortunately throws their way sometimes.

Realistic Legal Opinions

My companies relationship with Richard is on a consistent retainer. Unfortunately, we live in a litigious society and as a business owner I need to know my attorney is giving realistic legal opinions. He offers a wealth of information on how to navigate through my business legal issues as they arise.... Making sure to lead the company away from scorched earth scenarios. He is always available when not in court. As a business owner we find his services invaluable and unmatched by legal counsel we have sought in the past.

Much appreciated, Bianca. I always strive to give a client the full picture of the legal landscape they are facing so they can make the best decision for themselves. Look forward to assisting you in the future.

Either a Liar or EXTREMELY incompetent

So glad to finally hear others that had the same issues I had. I wanted to meet with him prior to the case for strategy, information, etc. He kept telling me he didn't see a need. Two weeks before trial we had a blowout over this on the phone and he suggested I would be happier with another lawyer ...I said yes. We went to court for them to rule on the withdrawal, R.D. then turned and said it was my idea for a new lawyer and said I was lying about not being able to see him. The prosecution did not disclose the material evidence to the case and R.D. did not request material. I was convicted solely on perjured testimony by a prosecution witness. The 11th Circuit and the Supreme Court have held in previous cases that I could not be prosecuted. My case should have merely been a pre-trial motion to dismiss based on precedence, instead I went to prison. R.D. is very intelligent and can put up a good smoke screen. I don't know what his issue is, if he prefers his music to his work, if he's just lazy, sleazy or has some other issue but clearly legal defense is not his strong suit.

Dear “Anonymous”: I see you’ve chosen to post a negative review in 2019 even though your case and sentence for defrauding the U.S. Military concluded years ago. As you well know, our disagreements stemmed from the fact that you continually refused to acknowledge the overwhelming evidence against you. You were not convicted on evidence that I did not request; you were convicted on your own admissions of guilt along with the incriminating chat logs you voluntary gave to the investigating government agents before your arrest and long before I was court-appointed to represent you. You must have forgotten that we had hours and hours of telephone conferences and in-person meetings and exchanged dozens of emails. I told the judge to get you a new lawyer because we kept going around and around in circles. Also, the court record clearly proves that I did file a motion to dismiss on statute of limitations grounds in the district court and then appealed the denial to the circuit court. See 790 F.3d 1196 (11th Cir. 2015). Contrary to your assertions, there are no 11th Circuit or Supreme Court precedents that supported dismissal. You also fail to mention that I filed a downward departure motion at sentencing that was granted, thus resulting in significantly less time than that called for under the federal sentencing guidelines. In sum, your account as to what occurred in your case is completely false and I did the very best anyone possibly could have given the facts of the case and the state of the law. Finally, as to your gratuitous insults against me, they only go to prove the old saying that when a man has no real arguments, he resorts to personal attacks.

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
