As you found out, 'do it yourself' ends up costing more than if you hired a pro to begin with. Hire a CPA or tax attorney now.

Generally, No taxes due as long as taxes were already paid on the income. IRAs and deferred products may have taxes due.

I suggest not to 'play around' with who's getting how much and transferring etc. There is generally no tax on receiving the gift.
