I met Helene Raisman when I was 16 years old. I am almost 40 now. She tried very hard back then to give me good advice unfortunately I didn't listen. My most recent cast she handled was a 2011 DUI charge. After taking the deposition from the officer it was found that I was pulled over illegally. T...he DUI was dropped. Helene Raisman of Raisman & Raisman PA in Fort Lauderdale was retained in 2010 to defend against lies my old boss made up. I immediately felt comfortable with her and I knew she would put every ounce of effort into my defense. I told her everything good, bad, foolish and even my anxiety about my ...pregnancy (I was fired when I was 4.5 mths pregnant - the reason for the lies). When charges were eventually brought against me, she called the bail bondsman before calling me to arrange my surrender and release. After I bonded out she walked me through the entire process of what was going to happen next. Helene spent countless hours learning the last 9 years of my life before this nightmare and before even formulating our defense. It was every bit important to her to "know" everything about me, about my old job, about the old boss as it was to defend the charges. As it turns out, that was the BEST way to go. By the time we received the discovery 6 months after the charges, she was familiar with my work ethic, the industry jargon and the environment in which I worked. The case was all paper, only one piece of physical "evidence" which we tackled first. And due to her tenacious nature, we discovered that the "evidence" that was supposed to be proof of me stealing turned out to be a product that I actually bought from a 3rd party and was owned by me. The old-boss , in a hurry to frame me, did not take the time to analyse things like, "what do those exterior numbers mean". They were of course the SKU from my original vendor and also present on my invoice with my credit card statement. So in one meeting, the physical "evidence" went up in smoke. Since all the other claims were doctored paperwork by the old boss, Helen had me sort through the papers by date then see if the dates meant anything to me, so we can tackle from that point of view if necessary. This was another GREAT idea. Several of the transactions that I allegedly completed were done when I was not even in the country. There were two transactions while I was in a Continental flight over Alaska. Immediately the lies and the doctored evidence started resembling a "house of cards". But not content to just show the inconsistencies in dates etc. We set aside the documents that were easily refuted, then went again over the evidence, this time looking for inconsistencies in weights and numbers. Sure enough, over 50% of the remaining documents had inconsistent weights when matched against the invoice. This was hours upon hours of painstaking attention to details, but even with our findings, it still required a skillful hand to show that the complainant lied. This is were Helene Raisman is the best. By the end of the first deposition the complainant's lies were already evident . By the second deposition, the police and complainant decided to remove the items that Helene had proven to be FALSE and submit a revised PCA. But that did not stop Helene. By this she knew the business and the jargon of the business I worked in almost as well as I did, which surprised the complainant and knocked him completely off his throne of lies. By the middle of the third deposition, the complainant - the old boss - started retracting statements he made to the police, that were a part of the PC that had been used to issue the writ against me. All the charges were dropped within 2 days. So I went from looking at 75 years and a mountain of lies to fight, to freedom and now getting this ordeal expunged. I could NOT have done it with a different attorney. I do not know of an attorney that would learn an entire "foreign" industry jargon, who would spend above and beyond billable hours defending against a mountain of lies over 500 pages thick, especially when the ASA had offered a plea.
