Joseph Scott Van de Bogart

Over the years the Van de Bogart's have assisted me with a variety of legal issues both business and personal. Mr Van de Bogart's is honest about what he does/doesn't know and has a fantastic ability to bring himself up to speed on any new project/situation I throw at him, or give a great recommenda...tion for another specialist when appropriate. I trust him with all my contracts/legal documents and other mundane legal affairs but he is also the first person I would call if I had a real fight on my hands as well. He is always prepared and, unlike some lawyers I have delt with in the past, Mr. Van de Bogart is not afraid of a court room. This is the lawyer I send my firends and family to when they need help or have a problem.

I am more than satisfied with the work Mr. Van de Bogart has done on my behalf. I have hired him to look over several contracts, and he has helped me navigate business dealings that due to his advice and efforts have ended up being very favorable to me. This is pretty much summed up in the review title. I hired Joseph Van De Bogart from a referral from my real estate agent. I was being sued improperly by my landlord and they also shut off my gas while i lived there. He got the transcripts w/ the gas company admitting it and we had the case in the ba...g. I hired him September, gave him $1600 as requested. He said the first time we met at mediation that if we dont have a resolution by December he wants an additional $2500 which i will get back when we win and his fees are reimbursed. After mediation, the other party got a new attorney (who wasnt a shlump like their old one). Josephs tone changed after he wasnt as maybe confident in his ability to win against someone who knows what theyre doing (was my take on it by the situation). He then sends me an invoice for $6500 saying that it was how much work hes put in so far and needs to be paid in full before going any further. I told him thats not what we discussed. ALSO, we DID settle at mediation, and they sent him money BUT he didn't deposit it because he wanted "certified funds not a personal check". They never did it so we never got ANY MONEY. So now, im out $1600 and he changed the agreement when we had it 100% won. Do not hire him, he will act extremely pretentious and change the deal at the last minute. There are tons of lawyers out there dont waste your time.
