Michael D. Stewart

     For more than 30 years I've helped people and businesses resolve disputes. Disputes involving contracts they've made, including leases, business relationships they're involved in, and land they own.  I've helped people put their lives back together financially when they've been hurt, or a family member has been hurt or killed, in an accident. And I've defended folks alleged to have been responsible for the damages.

    I'm AV rated with Martindale-Hubbell. During the time I litigated, I prosecuted and defended civil lawsuits in the trial courts, the 4th District Coutrt of Appeal, and the Florida Supreme Court.

     In 2007, the Florida Supreme Court certified me to mediate civil disputes filed in the Circuit and County Courts of Florida in 2007, which I've done since being certified by the Supreme Court.  I've associated with the distinguished group of mediators affiliated with Jim Chaplin at Mediation Firm, Inc., to mediate civil cases filed in the trial courts.

    After graduating from the University of Virginia in 1968, I served our country for over four years as a commissioned officer in the Marine Corps, including service in Viet Nam, reaching the rank of Captain. Following service in the Marines, I attended law school and graduated in December 1974. Following graduation, my wife and I moved to Fort Lauderdale, where we've lived since.
