Mark Stephen Barnett

Mark S. Barnett is an attorney with Lemon Law Group Partners, PLC. He represents consumers whose vehicles have not been repaired under warranty, with claims brought under the Florida Lemon Law and the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. He is licensed in Florida. In 2009 he was admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida.

Mark also is the Managing Partner of the Barnett Law Firm, PLLC, a multi-faceted practice specializing in consumer and civil rights, appellate law, criminal defense, and general civil practice. From 1988 to 1993, Mr. Barnett served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division of the Florida Attorney General's Office. Florida's Lemon Law program was established during those years. He worked on the statute from the enforcement side before he began bringing claims under it in private practice.

Much of his current work is case and detail focused. The statute requires a record of repair attempts before a vehicle qualifies, and that record is often thin, sometimes because a dealer has declined to schedule further service. Mr. Barnett reviews repair orders and warranty correspondence to establish what the manufacturer was told and when, and advises clients on how best to protect and present their cases.

Mr. Barnett received his J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1987 and his B.A. from Columbia College, Columbia University, in New York City, in 1984. His practice includes lemon law and warranty matters.
