Jaime Rich Vining practices law at the intersection of IP, Internet, and entertainment. Her focus is on trademark and copyright law as it pertains to the corporate world, entertainment, and the digital marketplace.
A Florida Bar-certified Intellectual Property attorney, Jaime counsels clients on the acquisition of new trademarks; conducts clearance investigations; files and prosecutes trademark applications in state, federal, and international jurisdictions; renders availability and infringement opinions; provides defense of related proceedings, such as oppositions and cancellations of registrations; files domain name enforcement actions under ICANN's Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP); and provides legal advice regarding trademarks and related unfair competition issues. She has also acted as an expert witness in a variety of trademark disputes.
Jaime also has extensive experience with international laws relating to trademark and copyright protection. As the world has grown flat, Jaime assists multinational corporations, technology startups and entertainment companies in developing global IP portfolios and policies to secure, maintain, and enforce trademark rights in the worldwide marketplace. She has provided strategic trademark management services for companies in the apparel, technology, construction, entertainment, food and beverage products, travel and hospitality industries, among others. Among her clients are famous bands and multimedia companies.
Jaime is actively involved in the IP legal community. She serves as subcommittee chair of the Webcast team for the Law Firm committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and currently chairs the Intellectual Property Committee of the Dade County Bar Association, a position which she has held since 2010. She is the brainchild behind Dade Legal Aid’s Patently Impossible Project, a fundraising event where teams compete to accurately assemble a patented invention while guests “bet” on their favorite contestant. The event has raised more than $150,000 since its inception.
For the past eight years, Jaime has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Miami School of Law teaching trademark law and advanced trademark law.
Respected by her peers, Jaime has been named a “Top Up and Comer” and “Rising Star” by Florida Trend’s Legal Elite, the South Florida Legal Guide and Florida’s Super Lawyer Magazine. Jaime is AV -rated by Martindale- Hubbell and was named among the “Top 20 Professionals Under 40” by Brickell Magazine and "40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers of South Florida" by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In addition, in 2016 she was honored by the Florida Bar with the Lynn Futch Most Productive Young Lawyer Award, which annually recognizes a young attorney who has worked most diligently in Bar activities and law-related public activities and has an excellent reputation for legal abilities and integrity. Most recently, Jaime was named an “On the Rise” award recipient by the Daily Business Review (May 2017), selected as the 2017 “Up & Comer” for attorneys in Miami-Dade by South Florida Business & Wealth Magazine (June 2017), and awarded the Volunteer Service Award for her pro bono service by the International Trademark Association (November 2017).
