Linda C Sweeting

LINDA C. SWEETING began working in 1983 as a clerk during law school for a civil trial practice in Coral Gables, Florida.  After being sworn into the Florida Bar in 1985, she began working in the areas of commercial, general liability, insurance coverage, and personal injury defense.  Ms. Sweeting then made her way into the practice areas of plaintiff personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, and near drowning cases.  Her practice has included matters involving serious bodily injury and wrongful death resulting from defects in automobiles and boats, defective design and manufacturing of breast implants, hip implants, and amino acids sold as health food supplements.  Ms. Sweeting was the first attorney in the State of Florida to garner personal jurisdiction over a Japanese corporation that altered the production of a manufactured form of L-Tryptophan, which was sold in the United States as an unregulated health food supplement, and which caused irreversible damage to the immune systems of some consumers. She was also one of the first attorneys in the nation to resolve one such case by forcing the corporation to binding arbitration.  Ms. Sweeting has also represented plaintiffs in automobile crashes, pesticide poisoning of people, homes and crops, the negligent transmission of STD's and HIV, medical malpractice, dental malpractice, slip/ trip and fall, dog bite, the wrongful denial of insurance benefits, and bad faith claims.  Ms. Sweeting believes in upholding the integrity and independence of Florida's judicial system.  She also believes that attorneys are responsible to serve both the Bar and community in which they practice.  Ms. Sweeting is also the proud mother of three (3) adult children.
