Richard Alan Alayon, Esq. is a 1985 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Miami School of Law and cum laude graduate of New York University School of Law in 1990 (Masters in International and Tax Law). Mr. Alayon attained his second law degree at NYU, while contemporaneously employed as a full time senior associate attorney at the prestigious Wall Street Law Firm of Milbank Tweed Hadley and McCloy. During his employment at such firm, Mr. Alayon was credited with achieving significant successes for insurance company clients and other institutional clients such as, for example, MetLife, Prudential, NCNB Corporation (now Bank of America) and Bank of New England/Bank of Tokyo. Mr. Alayon is also a Certified Public Accountant (Florida) and is licensed to practice law in the states of New York and Florida and admitted to practice before several Federal District Courts, the United States Tax Court and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He also holds a Masters in Business Administration in Accounting and Finance, having graduated with honors from the University of Miami. Mr. Alayon is a rarity in the field of law, i.e., he is an experienced transactional and litigation attorney, who has developed proven litigation skills in litigating insurance, tort, administrative, commercial, tax, and other complex, disputed matters. His recent litigation successes include, for example, a complex commercial dispute with Innkeepers USA REIT (NYSE listed) (favorable and lucrative settlement before trial), a complex commercial dispute with Altec Lansing Corporation (speaker and multimedia concern) that resulted in another favorable settlement before trial but not before a favorable appeal on an erroneous summary judgment in favor of the defendant, the defense of a wrongful death suit against FDOT (defense verdict on summary judgment, affirmed on appeal), the prosecution of a complaint for collection of a debt owed to a general contractor and the defense of a negligent construction counterclaim in arbitration alleging mold damage (verdict primarily for the contractor), the prosecution of a suit against a seller of real estate for equitable relief (i.e., to cause the sale of appreciated property) (the appellate court ruled in favor of the client), and several disputes with condominium associations on behalf of contractors. Mr. Alayon has successfully tried cases in varied areas of the law.
