Javier Banos Machado graduated cum laude from Florida International University in 2003 with a double Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Political Science and a minor in Economics. After completing his Bachelor’s degree, Javier went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida, where he also earned a certificate in Estate Planning and concentrated his studies in the area of taxation.
Upon graduating from law school, Javier went on to work as an associate in the tax department at the firm of Fieldstone, Lester, Shear and Denberg, where he concentrated on matters of corporate structure, tax compliance and international taxation. In 2007, Javier opened his law firm, where he now practices in range of areas, including estate planning, taxation issues, corporate law and civil litigation. Additionally, Javier operates an accounting firm, where he assists clients in their monthly bookkeeping and annual tax preparation, allowing him to maximize tax planning strategies to their benefit.
In addition to his work for his private firm, Javier has a deep commitment for public service. He currently serves as the Chairman of the City of Miami Civil Service Board and as Vice Chairman of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee. He also volunteers as a guardian ad litem for the Miami-Dade County Guardian Ad Litem program. Javier’s public service experience includes previously serving on the City of South Miami Charter Review Committee and City of South Miami Pension Ad Hoc Committee and chairing the City of South Miami Pension board of Trustees.
