Divorce, Custody, Child Support

I hired Kenneth Kaplan to help with me with a very complicated divorce case. A number of attorneys preceded him and were unable to make any forward progress: in fact, a couple of them only served to make things worse. He reviewed over 1000 pages of case files and quickly had a thorough understanding ...of the issues. The case involved custody of a minor child and a number of financial matters. I found Mr. Kaplan to be a consummate professional who not only took pride in his work but also cared about the outcome of the proceedings. He was easy to get hold of and always returned my phone calls promptly. His advice and court action were always based in fact and tempered by financial practicalities. His advice created appropriate expectations and oftentimes served to dampen down my desire to move forward in a manner based more on my emotions than on my intellect. In the end, I avoided useless court time and unnecessary fees. The results he obtained for me on every level have been wonderful, a real blessing. I can recommend him without qualification to anyone who needs assistance with divorce. You will not find anyone better.

Excellent Service!!!

"I don't write reviews lightly or often. The subject of this review is the professional relationship I have had with my lawyer over the last 5 years. I have been represented by Mr. Kaplan in one case regarding time-sharing and child support of my son. This case started in 2010 and I retained Mr. K...aplan’s services in 2012. As of the date of this review we are still in court in a new iteration of the same case. Over the years, Mr. Kaplan has helped me navigate the extremely confusing legal world and has filed different legal procedures to help me retain Sole parental custody of my child. It gives me a sense of pride to walk into and out of the courtroom next to Mr. Kaplan, as I am confident he has crossed all the T’s and dotted the I’s and no matter what decision the Judge makes, my case will be clearly explained and he will object promptly to the shady tactics used by the other’s party lawyer. I am very thankful to him for always defending me in court and being very resourceful as to the options we have available."

Sloppy work, constant over billing, get out ASAP

Mr. Kaplan is all bark, no bite. He tells you what you want to hear but then takes little significant action. He was late to a hearing scheduled by his office. His work/staff's work had serious errors in it from day one including the wrong county/court, wrong use of hers/his, causing me to review a...nd correct several times each document. He over billed me for tens of hours requiring me to go back into my cell phone records to set the invoice straight...every single time. Mr. Kaplan never fought for me, he takes the easy road and just lays down due to laziness when he's against a better lawyer.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
