also known as Tony Moss
Tony Moss is an experienced and dedicated criminal defense attorney who has stood guard between his clients and the power and resources of the government since March 28,1988. He focuses exclusively on a wide variety of state and Federal cases, ranging from drug offenses to wire and mail fraud, to white collar crimes, to capital murder prosecutions. (He is especially proud of having handled over 90 potentially death-eligible first-degree murder cases, without losing a single client to Florida’s Death Row.) In doing so, he brings his own personal touch, based on the law, the facts, and his own personal experience.
Tony has been admitted to practice before all Florida state courts; the United States Supreme Court; the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third and Eleventh Circuits; and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He has been qualified to accept indigent appointments throughout South and Southwest Florida and in the United States District Courts, and also to appear as “learned counsel” in federal death penalty prosecutions nationwide.
Tony is a proud Life Member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (both statewide and Miami chapters), and is also an active member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He has been a longtime member of the FACDL–Miami Board of Directors, was the chapter secretary in 2009-10, and currently serves as a Chapter Representative on FACDL-Statewide's Board of Directors, as well as a member of the Indigent Services and Criminal Rules Committees.
As a believer in the maxim, “Each one, reach one–each one, teach one,” Tony Moss has also volunteered untold hours toward the advancement of the legal profession and the criminal defense bar. He has served for years as a guest lecturer and faculty member at numerous defense seminars and workshops around the country, and is especially proud to be a 2000 charter faculty member of the Clarence Darrow Death Penalty College (sponsored by DePaul University College of Law in Chicago), and the recipient of the College’s first Meritorious Service Award in 2003. He also provides free legal consultation statewide to prison inmates who no longer qualify for free appointed counsel, and has been a sought-after speaker for youth groups and school programs throughout Miami-Dade County.
Tony is married to DONNA FIELDS, ESQ., a veteran Assistant Public Defender in the Miami-Dade Circuit Court's Juvenile Division. In his spare time, he is an avid cook, a fitness enthusiast, and a jazz buff who currently hosts The Spectrum-T Experience, a two-hour Saturday evening program on FM in Miami (). He's also an avid traveler, having set foot on all seven continents except Antartica, and is also a Miami Heat fan and former season-ticket holder. And he's the proud parent of Mojo, a terrier mutt who stole his heart in August 2010 and has refused to return it ever since.
