About me

I grew up in East Tennessee/Southwest Virginia in a small twin city, Bristol. After  graduating from Bristol Tennessee High School in 1981 I attended The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where I graduated, with highest honors, in 1985. My majors were Philosophy and English and my minor was Political Science. I was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau social fraternity and the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.

In 1988 I graduated  from Columbia University School of Law, where I was a member of the Columbia Human Rights Law Review.  After graduation I worked for 5 years in Birmingham, Alabama for a large, 100 year old law firm, Burr & Forman. My practice there required me to make court appearances throughout the country, both in state and federal courts. My primary focus areas were complex commercial litigation, franchise litigation and labor and employment law.

I then moved to Miami, Florida and became a member of the Florida bar in 1994. In Florida I worked for both national and regional law firms, including being a partner in a 200 member national law firm.

Currently I am an attorney with the Law Office of Alexis Gonzalez.  My primary practice areas are business and commercial litigation, labor and employment law, and education law.
