Biography
Marlene Markowitz, Esq., is the owner of Marlene Markowitz Law Offices. Marlene focuses her practice on providing individualized help to each client through immigration and criminal defense. Marlene is an immigrant dedicated to advocating for others going through the immigration journey. Marlene is fluent in Spanish and is originally from Guatemala. Marlene dedicates her life to fighting for justice.
Marlene has years of experience and has appeared before immigration courts in: Florida, California, Connecticut, Kansas, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Texas, Georgia, Ohio, and North Carolina. Marlene represents clients before United States Citizen and Immigration Services, under Immigration Customs Enforcement custody, and before the Executive Office of Immigration Review.
Marlene is passionate about our environment, during her time at St. Thomas University Marlene served as Secretary and Vice president of the St. Thomas Environmental Law Society. Marlene also served as President and Vice President of the St. Thomas chapter of Florida Association for Women Lawyers. Marlene is a member of Phi Alpha Delta.
Additionally, Marlene interned at Guardian ad Litem and became a Guardian ad Litem volunteer for the 17th Judicial Circuit.
Marlene Markowitz was also a Certified Legal Intern at the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s office. As a certified legal intern, Marlene represented the state in prosecuting misdemeanor domestic violence defendants.Marlene gained valuable experience that now serves her in representing both victims and those accused with domestic violence. Marlene also interned with the Honorable William Thomas in the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida where she researched all areas of civil litigation. Marlene there realized that injustices can also be fought for those unjustly injured.
Marlene Markowitz was also Certified Legal Intern with Children Legal Services at the Department of Children and Families. This work has allowed Marlene to successfully represent unaccompanied minors in dependency court.
