Biography
Tom Pennekamp is the founding shareholder of Pennekamp Law, P.A. The firm focuses its practice on vehicular, aviation, maritime, product liability, medical malpractice, and catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims in both State and Federal Courts. He maintains an “AV” rating by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.
Mr. Pennekamp regularly handles many high profile cases having consummated one of the largest individual personal injury settlements in Florida history, $17,500,000 for a man paralyzed in a SCUBA diving incident in Jamaica. In 2001, he was named one of South Florida’s Top “Up and Comer” Lawyers by Miami Metro Magazine’s South Florida Legal Guide. The Miami Today newspaper featured Tom as “The Newsmaker” in its August 2002 issue. Coral Gables Magazine profiled of him as one of its list of “21 People to Watch” in 2003. The Daily Business Review featured Mr. Pennekamp’s multi-million dollar award for an injured bridge tender after the collapse of the Flagler Street Bridge in its January 9, 2006 edition. The South Florida Business Journal also honored him with its first “2006 Key Partners Award” in law. In 2006 and again in 2007, Super Lawyer Magazine recognized him as one of Florida’s “Super Lawyers” ranking him in the top 5% of his peers. He was selected for the 25th anniversary edition of the 2008 Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of Transportation Law.
Mr. Pennekamp is a Past President of the Dade County Bar Association, Florida’s largest voluntary bar association with more than 4000 members and a past Chairman of the Florida Bar’s 11th Judicial Circuit Fee Arbitration Committee. His community activities include his membership on the Orange Bowl Committee and service on the Board of Directors of the Friends of Florida State Parks.
