LEGAL MALPRACTICE CASE AGAINST ATTORNEY MISSING DEADLINES ON FALSE ARREST/POLICE BRUTALITY CASE
N/A
OUTCOME: Settled during jury trial
Represented married couple who were victims of a BSO Deputy who perpetrated excessive force upon them (causing injury) as well as false arrest in front of their own home. The couple had hired an attor...ney to represent them on their civil rights claims, but that attorney negligently missed crucial deadlines, causing their civil rights claims to be forever barred. Mr. Baron filed a legal malpractice lawsuit against that attorney and his firm, which fought the case tooth and nail and refused to make a decent settlement offer. Mr. Baron took the case to jury trial in Broward Circuit Court and presented the evidence of both the lawyer’s negligence and the police brutality/injuries and false arrests in the underlying case, including expert witnesses on each issue. Seeing the writing on the wall, the law firm settled with us just before we were to present closing arguments to the jury.
