Alan Steven Bernstein

I am the author of Florida DUI Defense: The Law and Practice, Lawyers & Judges Publishing Company, Inc. I am one of the founders of the National College for DUI Defense. I am currently the Florida State Delegate for The National College for DUI Defense. I have lectured on DUI issues in Florida, and out of state about Florida’s breath testing machine to blood testing in DUI cases.  My clients have included lawyers, police officers, pro athletes, political figures, business executives, entertainers and just plain folks. I attended Nova Southeastern Law School, where I graduated near the top of my class in 1981. I am the founder of Alan S. Bernstein P.A., with offices in both Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood. My firms practice is devoted almost entirely to Traffic and DUI defense. I have been practicing criminal law, with an emphasis on DUI since 1982. I am a member of the Broward Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, The Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. I have had extensive training in the defense of citizens’ accused of Driving Under the Influence. In 1995, I became a founding member of The National College for DUI Defense, which is the leading institution in the United States for training attorneys to defend DUI cases. I am the Florida State Delegate for The National College for DUI Defense, as well as being a faculty member of the college. I am also a founding member of The DUI Defense Lawyers Association. I has completed courses on the NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. I have received training as an Intoxilyzer 5000 and Intoxilyzer 8000 series Operator and Maintenance technician through C.E.S. Consulting and The Florida Department of Law Enforcement. I am a highly trained attorney in the area of alcohol-related DUI, and the growing area of DUI drug cases. I have taught other attorneys on the use, theory and law on the Intoxilyzer, in addition to lecturing at the National College for DUI Defense. I have often been involved in large-scale challenges to DUI chemical testing, investigative methods and Field Sobriety Testing. I was on the team that attacked the Field Sobriety Tests that led to the seminal decision in State v. Meador, 674 So.2d 826 (Fla. 4th DCA 1996). I have worked hard to have earned a reputation as one of the most knowledgeable and highly skilled DUI attorneys in Florida. My opinion is sought by DUI attorneys throughout South Florida. I reside in South Florida with my wife and son.
